Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 70:

  • At welterweight, we have Igor Cavalcanti taking on Seok Hyun Ko. Cavalcanti has won all nine of his pro MMA fights, with all of his wins coming from first-round stoppages. He looks like a tremendous prospect and his record is amazing, so he will surely be someone to watch this season. As for Ko, he has won his last three fights in a row and looks like a very good prospect who has won most of his fights by way of stoppage. Overall, this looks like a really good fight between two fighters who typically finish their fights. With Cavalcanti having the unbeaten record, you have to lean toward him to win, but Ko is certainly capable of finishing this fight. One would have to imagine UFC president Dana White will sign the winner of this matchup.
  • In a middleweight bout, we have Will Currie taking on Djorden Santos. Currie is a Cage Warriors veteran who has won his last three fights and seven of his last eight fights overall. He looks like a solid prospect who could soon join the UFC. As for Santos, he has won his last four fights in a row and he also appears to be an intriguing prospect. Once again, you have to imagine UFC president Dana White signs the winner of this fight.
