Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 67:
- Dana White’s Contender Series is officially back with another great season of prospects going at it looking for a UFC contract. In the first DWCS card of 2024, we have five fights, including a middleweight bout between Wes Schultz and Mansur Abdul-Malik. Schultz is an LFA veteran who has won his last three fights in a row heading into this bout following his only career loss to current UFC middleweight Dylan Budka. Five of Schultz’s six career wins have come by stoppage. As for Abdul-Malik, he is undefeated at 5-0 and trains at MMA Masters. He is also an LFA vet, with all five of his wins coming by stoppage. This should be a fantastic fight between two young fighters who are known for finishing their fights. While Schultz opened up as a very slight favorite, the money has been coming in on Abdul-Malik and he is favored now.
- Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout between Bruno Lopes and Mikheil Sazhiniani. Lopes is the former LFA light heavyweight champion and he fought on DWCS last year, though he lost to Brendson Ribeiro as a huge favorite. Almost all of his wins have come by stoppage, so he deserves another chance on DWCS. As for Sazhiniani, he has won his last six fights in a row. The Georgian is a finisher and although he is the dog here, don’t underestimate him.
