Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 68:
- We are back with another installment of Dana White’s Contender Series in Season 8. In the first week of the show, four fighters won UFC contracts, and now we have 10 more fighters looking to join the world’s ultimate proving ground.
- In the headliner, we have Canadian Pat Pytlik taking on Sweden’s Andreas Gustafsson Berg at 170 lbs. Pytlik is coming off two straight wins including a victory at the last Unified MMA event, which was featured on Dana White Lookin’ For A Fight. As for Berg, he has won his last two fights by knockout and is a KSW veteran. It is exciting to see Pytlik get his chance to join the UFC but Berg has fought better competition and is the betting favorite heading into this matchup.
- Also on the card is a heavyweight bout between Rizvan Kuniev and Hugo Cunha. Kuniev is unbeaten over his last 11 fights and defeated PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira in his last fight before the result was overturned due to a positive drug test. He fought on DWCS in 2021 and won but was passed on due to not having a very impressive overall performance despite getting a finish. As for Cunha, he is he LFA heavyweight champion and could be an interesting addition to the UFC roster. Still, you have to favor Kuniev here and the oddsmakers have him pegged as a giant favorite.
