Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 96 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 96 is a five-round middleweight bout between Jared Cannonier and Caio Borralho. Cannonier is one of the top middleweights in the UFC. Still, he is coming off a highly controversial TKO defeat to Nassourdine Imavov that many consider one of the worst stoppages in recent memory. Before that loss, Cannonier had beaten Marvin Vettori and Sean Strickland, so he must get back on track with a big win over Borralho if he wants to get back into the title hunt. As for Borralho, he has won all six of his UFC fights so far and he has earned this chance at a big-name opponent. The oddsmakers opened up the younger Borralho as the favorite for this fight, which makes sense given his youth and win streak.
- Also on the card, Michael Morales takes on Neil Magny at welterweight. Morales has won all four of his UFC fights so far and he looks like the real deal at 170 lbs. As for Magny, he is coming off an incredible comeback TKO win over top prospect Mike Malott. Magny should never be counted out of any fight, but you have to favor the undefeated Morales in this fight due to his youth and his unblemished record.
