Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 303 Opening Odds:
- The main event sees Alex Pereira rematch Jiri Prochazka for the UFC light heavyweight title. These two met in the main event of UFC 295 last year, and Pereira knocked Prochazka out to win the vacant title. Since then, Pereira has knocked out Jamahal Hill in his first title defense, while Prochazka earned this rematch after knocking out Aleksandar Rakic. This fight was booked on short notice so it will be interesting to see how that factor plays into this bout. The bookies opened up Pereira as the favorite, but you can’t count out Prochazka from winning.
- The co-main event features Diego Lopes against Brian Ortega at featherweight. Lopes has been one of the hottest featherweights in the sport and looks to be someone the promotion wants to build as a title contender. As for Ortega, he is coming off an impressive comeback win over Yair Rodriguez. This fight was booked on short notice so it will be interesting to see how the fighters perform. Lopes opened up as the betting favorite for this bout, but this is a step up in competition and it would be a mistake to count out Ortega from possibly winning this match.
