Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC St. Louis Opening Odds:
- In the main event, we have Derrick Lewis against Rodrigo Nascimento at heavyweight in a five-round bout. Lewis is coming off a one-sided loss to Jailton Almeida where he was taken down and held on the ground for 25 minutes. Nascimento, meanwhile, has won his last three fights in a row but this is a big step up in competition against a very experienced opponent. Even though Lewis has a bad ground game, he has the KO power to finish anyone.
- The co-main event features Joaquin Buckley against Nursulton Ruziboev at welterweight. Both men are coming off knockout wins at UFC Atlantic City, although it is worth noting that Ruziboev is dropping down to 170 lbs for this fight. Buckley has been on a series roll as of late in the UFC welterweight division and it looks like he has finally found the right weight class for himself. As for Ruziboev, he has looked awesome so far in the UFC but it remains to be seen what he will look like at welterweight. It should be a great fight but with Buckley having cut down to welterweight lately, he deserves to be the betting favorite in this fight.
