Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 183:
- The main event of LFA 183 is a women’s strawweight bout between Naizi Cantanhede and Yasmin Guimaraes. Cantanhede is just 25 and she is a perfect 7-0 as a pro, which includes a win in LFA in her last outing. As for Guimaraes, this is her LFA debut after having come over from KSW and other promotions. Given that Cantanhede has previous experience fighting in LFA, plus the fact she is undefeated, it makes sense she is the betting favorite in this spot.
- The co-main event of LFA 183 is a middleweight bout between Lucas Fernando and Joao Paulo Silva. Fernando is 27 years old and he enters this fight on a two-fight losing skid. He lost to Azamat Bekoev at LFA 173 in his last fight, which was preceded by a defeat to current UFC fighter Cesar Almeida on Dana White’s Contender Series. Before that, Fernando had won four straight fights in the LFA cage and was the LFA middleweight champion. As for Silva, he is 28 and he has a 1-1 record in LFA. He is coming off two straight wins entering this fight, so he has some momentum. Still, Fernando has fought better competition, which is why he’s favored.
