Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 91 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 91 is a five-round flyweight headliner between Matheus Nicolau and Alex Perez. Nicolau was knocked out by Brandon Royval in his last fight, a loss that snapped a six-fight win streak for the Brazilian, who was coming into his own as a title contender. As for Perez, he is coming off a close decision loss to Muhammad Mokaev in his last fight, which was one of his best performances in a long time. The fight with Mokaev showed that Perez shouldn’t be forgotten about at 125 lbs, but at the same time, it is difficult to ignore what Nicolau did before his last loss, which is why he is the betting favorite in this spot.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 91 sees Ryan Spann take on Bogdan Guskov at light heavyweight. Spann is coming off two straight losses and he doesn’t appear to be the top contender that some did when he was on a win streak. As for Guskov, he brutally knocked out Zac Pauga in his last fight to get this opportunity. Still, Spann is a big step up for him, so it makes sense why Spann is the favorite.
