Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 90 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 90 is a five-round middleweight rematch between Brendan Allen and Chris Curtis. These two first met in 2021, with Curtis knocking Allen out in devastating fashion in a big upset. Three years later they meet again, with Allen once again the betting favorite. The thing is, even though Curtis won the first fight, Allen has not lost since then, and he has been finishing nearly everyone in his path. Curtis may be just a bad-style matchup for Allen, but it’s hard to go against Allen here given the momentum he has right now.
- Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Alexander Hernandez and Damon Jackson. Hernandez is coming off a decision loss to Bill Algeo in his last fight and it’s difficult to say if 145 lbs is his ideal weight class. As for Jackson, he is coming off a decision loss to Billy Quarantillo in his last fight. This should be a solid fight between two veterans, but you have to lean towards Hernandez here because he is the younger fighter and also the superior striker in a fight where he should be able to keep it standing.
