Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2024: Week 1:
- The main event of this PFL card features Ante Delija against Valentin Moldavsky at heavyweight. Delija was the 2022 PFL heavyweight champion and he enters this contest having won his last five fights in a row. He is one of the best heavyweight fighters not in the UFC and he should be one of the top fighters in this year’s PFL tournament. However, he is getting a tough matchup in the first round when he takes on Valentin Moldavsky, a former Bellator title contender. Moldavsky is coming off a big win over Steve Mowry in his last fight and he has a ton of experience fighting at a high level in Bellator. Although Delija is a live dog here with his knockout power, you have to lean toward Moldavsky due to his wrestling skills.
- Also on the card is a heavyweight bout between Denis Goltsov and Linton Vassell. Goltsov was knocked out by Renan Ferreira last year in the finals of the PFL heavyweight tournament and is looking to bounce back here. As for Vassell, he enters this fight having won five straight fights in Bellator. That being said, Goltsov is the betting favorite here due to all his experience in PFL.
