Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Mexico Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Mexico is a rematch between flyweight contenders Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval. These two fighters previously met in 2020, with Moreno finishing Royval via TKO. Four years later, they meet again. Once again, Moreno is the favorite to win the fight, and for good reason, considering he is a multi-time UFC flyweight champion who is still at the top of his game. Royval is a very good fighter, too, but Moreno is slightly better. Considering the fight is taking place in Mexico, it obviously makes sense to see Moreno as the favorite.
- The co-main event of UFC Mexico is a rematch between featherweights Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega. These two met in 2022, with Rodriguez defeating Ortega via first-round injury TKO. Since that fight, Rodriguez has fought for the title, although he lost to Alexander Volkanovski. As for Ortega, he has not fought since that night, so he will be entering this bout off a long layoff. It is surprising to see that Ortega opened as the favorite for this rematch, but the line has adjusted since the opener and now Rodriguez is the favorite to win this fight.
