Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 86 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 86 features Joe Pyfer against top-10-ranked middleweight Jack Hermansson. Pyfer is a perfect 3-0 so far in the UFC with all of his wins coming by stoppage, and it’s clear the UFC really likes him as a prospect and wants to push him up he ladder. As for Hermansson, he is coming off a TKO loss to Roman Dolidze and did not compete at all in 2023. Given that Hermansson looks to be on the decline while Pyfer is on the upswing, you have to favor Pyfer to win this fight, and given his finishing ability, a stoppage seems likely.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 86 sees Dan Ige take on Andre Fili at featherweight in a battle of two veterans. Ige is coming off a close decision loss to Bryce Mitchell in his last fight that snapped a two-fight win streak. As for Fili, he knocked out Lucas Almeida in his last fight. This should be a competitive bout that likely goes the distance. You have to slightly favor Ige here given he is he better wrestler, but Fili’s striking attack makes this an intriguing matchup.
