Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 174:
- The main event of LFA 174 is a lightweight title bout between champion Jacobi Jones and Kegan Gennrich. Jones was last seen on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he lost a decision to Daniel James Allen. Prior to that, all of his pro MMA fights took place in LFA, where he went 6-1 overall. As for Gennrich, he is coming off five straight wins, and he has a 5-1 overall record fighting in LFA. This should be an awesome fight between two lightweight prospects who are trying to make it to the UFC. Gennrich has more momentum at the moment which is likely why he opened up as a small favorite despite Jones being the reigning champ.
- The co-main event of LFA 174 is a catchweight bout at 140lbs between Quang Le and Cody Peterson. Le is unbeaten in his pro MMA career so far with five of those six wins coming in LFA. As for Peterson, he has been a pro for a decade and has fought for RFA in the past. In addition to MMA, he also has pro boxing experience. Le is the better prospect here with the better record and that’s why he is the clear betting favorite for this fight, which is set at a 140lbs catchweight.
