Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 83 Opening Odds:
- The main event is a five-round bantamweight bout between Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez. Yadong is coming off of a huge win over Ricky Simon in his last fight to bounce back following a TKO loss to Cory Sandhagen before that. Yadong has won four of his last five fights overall heading into this bout. As for Gutierrez, he has won five of his last six fights, including a win over Alatengheili in his last outing. Overall this is a fun bantamweight main event, but you have to lean toward Yadong to get his hand raised in this bout given his recent high-level success.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 83 sees Anthony Smith take on Khalil Rountree Jr. Smith is coming off a split decision win over Ryan Spann to bounce back following two straight losses. As for Rountree Jr., he is coming off four straight wins, including three of those victories via knockout. This is a very exciting light heavyweight bout that was taken on short notice by Smith. Although he opened up as a big favorite here, the line has flipped, and Rountree Jr. is now the clear favorite to get his hand raised in this bout.
