Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 295 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 295 is a vacant light heavyweight title bout between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira. Prochazka has won his last 13 fights in a row, including beating Glover Teixeira in his last bout at UFC 275 to win the belt. Unfortunately, he suffered a serious shoulder injury in training and was never able to defend his belt, being forced to vacate it. Now, 17 months later, Prochazka returns to the Octagon when he takes on Pereira, the former middleweight champ who is coming off of a huge win over another former champ in Jan Blachowicz in his light heavyweight debut. This main event at UFC 295 should be an absolutely amazing fight and one that is close when it comes to the odds. It’s a fight that can go either way, which is why you see that the odds are so closely lined for this 205 lbs title fight.
- Also on the card is a vacant heavyweight title bout between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall, who took this fight on short notice. Pavlovich has won his last six UFC fights by knockout, while Aspinall is coming off a huge knockout win over Marcin Tybura. Again, this is a fight that could go either way, which is why you see the odds so closely-lined for this contest.
