Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 171:
- The main event of LFA 171 is an LFA heavyweight title bout between challenger Hugo Cunha and champion Eduardo Jose Neves. Cunha won his last fight by knocking in his LFA debut heading into this one after suffering his lone career defeat to former DWCS fighter Dustin Joynson in ONE Championship by split decision. Speaking of DWCS, Neves fought for the promotion in September and was brutally knocked out by Jhonata Diniz. However, he has a 3-0 record in LFA overall. It’s a heavyweight bout, so both men will have massive power in their hands. Despite being the title challenger, it is Cunha who enters as the betting favorite here.
- In the co-main event, we have Jefferson Nascimento fighting Gabriel Costa at 155 lbs for the interim LFA lightweight title. Nascimento is a perfect 10-0 so far in his MMA career and he has a 3-0 record so far while fighting under the LFA banner. As for Costa, he has a perfect 8-0 record in MMA and he has won his last three fights in LFA as well. Overall, this looks like a phenomenal matchup between two of the best lightweight prospects in LFA. Nascimento opened up as a slight favorite here, but both guys are very talented young fighters.
