Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 81 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 81 is a five-round featherweight bout between top-15-ranked fighters Sodiq Yusuff and Edson Barboza. Yusuff is 6-1 overall in the UFC and he is coming off of back-to-back wins following his lone UFC defeat to Arnold Allen. He is one of the better strikers in the weight class and he has the chance to really make a name for himself with a win over the veteran Barboza. As for the Brazilian, he is coming off of a brutal KO win over Billy Quarantillo that showed he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. Though he had lost twice before that, the win over “Billy Q” showed that Barboza is still capable of landing the KO blow. That being said, Yusuff is the younger fighter and he deserves to be the favorite in this fight.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 81 features Jennifer Maia taking on Viviane Araujo in a women’s flyweight bout. Maia is coming off back-to-back wins over Casey O’Neill and Maryna Moroz, while Araujo is coming off back-to-back losses to Amanda Ribas and Alexa Grasso. With that said, you have to go with Maia to win this fight just based on pure momentum alone.
