Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 80 Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Vegas 80, Grant Dawson fights Bobby Green at lightweight. Dawson has been amazing ever since entering the UFC with an 8-0-1 record overall in the promotion. As for Green, he is coming off of a big win over Tony Ferguson his last time out. Although Green has a ton of experience and is a solid fighter in his own right, Dawson is the far younger fighter in this matchup and also the far better wrestler, so it’s no surprise he’s a big favorite.
- In the co-main event, Joe Pyfer fights Abdul Razak Alhassan in the middleweight division. Pyfer is 2-0 so far in the UFC with both of his wins coming by knockout and he looks like someone who will be a future title contender at 185 lbs. As for Alhassan, he knocked out Claudio Ribeiro in his last fight but overall he has been very inconsistent the last few years, going 2-5 over his last seven bouts. Although Alhassan has a puncher’s chance to knock Pyfer out, overall Pyfer is the better fighter and he’s also the younger fighter as well. There is a reason why Pyfer is the favorite to win this bout, and he should do so by way of knockout.
