Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 167:
- The main event of LFA 167 is a welterweight bout between Jonathan Piersma and Devin Smyth. Piersma is a CFFC veteran who has won the majority of his fights by submission. Though he lost, he does have a split decision defeat to current UFC fighter Charlie Radke on his resume that doesn’t look so bad right now. As for Smyth, he has not fought in three years since a loss to Maycon Mendonca in LFA back in 2020. Just given the fact that Piersma has been far more active as of late, you have to lean toward him to get the win in this fight.
- In the co-main event, we have welterweights Shamidkhan Magomedov and Bahromjon Mashrapov going at it. Magomedov has won his last three fights in a row, including a victory under the LFA banner in his last outing. As for Mashrapov, he has won his last four fights in a row, including a victory in LFA in his last fight as well. Both of these fighters are talented prospects and both of them have been active and enter this fight on winning streaks, indicating that this should be a competitive fight between two fighters who are looking to make the jump into the UFC or another big promotion.
