Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 165:
- In middleweight action, headliners Daniel Compton and Renato Valente Alves clash for three rounds or less. Compton has won his last five fights in a row, including a notable submission win over former UFC fighter Maki Pitolo. A Bellator veteran as well, Compton has fought one time for LFA, defeating Billy Elekana by split decision last summer. He enters this fight on a five-fight winning streak. His opponent is Valente, who has a 2-3 overall record while fighting under the LFA banner. In his last outing, Valente lost a unanimous decision to Azamat Bekoev. Overall, this should be a fun fight between two scrappy middleweights. However, it’s hard not to like Compton in this fight considering he has all the momentum coming into this match.
- Also on the card is a bantamweight bout between Allan Begosso and Cristian Giovannie. Begosso is an LFA veteran who is 3-2 all-time in the promotion, while Giovannie is making his debut in the promotion. Even though Begosso is coming off two straight losses, he has fought a superior level of competition throughout the years. Giovannie, on the other hand, has not fought in over five years heading into this bout. Just based on the recent level of activity alone, it’s hard not to go with Begosso to get his hand raised in this matchup.
