Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 57:
- Headling DWCS 57 is a middleweight bout between Lucas Fernando and Cesar Almeida. Fernando comes over from LFA, where he has won his last four fights in a row. He appears to be a very solid prospect and the former LFA middleweight champion could end up being a nice addition to the UFC roster if he wins on DWCS. As for Almeida, he comes from a kickboxing background where he actually fought Alex Pereira in the past. As an MMA fighter, he only has three fights on his resume, but he’s won all three of them by knockout, so he is clearly an incredibly dangerous fighter who can score the knockout. Overall, this is a tricky fight to call since Almeida is such a wild card, but based on MMA experience, Fernando is the favorite.
- Also on the card is a lightweight bout between Tom Nolan and Bogdan Grad. Nolan has won all five of his pro fights since 2020 and the Aussie appears to be a prospect on the rise. As for Grad, he enters this bout having won his last five fights in a row. Since Nolan is undefeated, it comes as no surprise to see him as the favorite here, but Grad of course has a chance to win. Regardless of who wins or loses, this should be a fun fight.
