Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator MMA vs. Rizin 2:
- The main event of Bellator MMA vs. Rizin 2 is a lightweight bout between AJ McKee and Patricky Pitbull. McKee has won his last two fights in a row over Spike Carlyle and Roberto Satoshi de Souza, and his only career loss was a disputed decision to Patricio Pitbull last year. Now, he takes on the other Pitbull brother when he faces off against Patricky at lightweight. This Pitbull has lost three of his last four fights and he appears to be in a serious decline at this point in his MMA career. As such, McKee is the betting favorite to win this fight. However, he opened up a bit lower than expected and he could still have value as a relatively short favorite.
- Also on the card is a flyweight title bout between Kyoji Horiguchi and Makoto Shinryu. Horiguchi has won his last two fights but he is actually just 3-3 over his last six bouts, so he is on a bit of a decline it appears at this stage of his career. As for Shinryu, he has won his last 10 fights in a row and he appears to be an incredible prospect who is going to give Horiguchi a run for his money here. The former UFC title challenger is a big favorite, but don’t count out the prospect.
