Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 158:
- The CWFC flyweight championship is on the line when Michele Martignoni fights Shaj Haque. Martignoni is just 27 and the Italian fighter won the CWFC bantamweight title in his last fight with a win over Dominique Wooding. In addition to his time in Cage Warriors, Martignoni also previously competed for Bellator. As for Haque, he has won his last five fights in a row, including winning the CWFC flyweight belt his last time out. Overall, this should be a great fight. The oddsmakers are giving a slight lean to Martignoni, but it’s only a very slight lean.
- Also on the card is former UFC lightweight fighter Mason Jones, who is returning to the cage for the first time since last July, when he was cut by the UFC following a loss to Ludovit Klein. Jones went just 1-2, 1 NC overall in the UFC but several of the fights were close and at age 28 he still has time to make improvements. As for Ribeiro, he has a ton of pro experience with over 30 fights, and he’s coming off of a win in his last bout. That being said, Jones has fought better competition overall in the UFC, and he should be able to bounce back here with a win.
