Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 156:
- Headlining Cage Warriors 156 is a middleweight bout between Matthew Bonner and Darren Stewart. Bonner has been fighting in CWFC for years and he has turned into one of the promotion’s toughest outs at 185lbs. Entering this bout, he has won his last two fights in a row. As for Stewart, he has won his last two fights entering this bout. The former UFC standout has fought many times in CWFC, so he is very used to fighting for this promotion. That being said, despite his recent wins, it feels like Stewart is on the decline in his MMA career. That’s why Bonner opened up as the betting favorite in this fight despite not being a former UFC fighter.
- Also on the main card is a bantamweight bout between Jack Eglin and Rory Evans. Eglin has fought his entire career for CWFC and he is coming off of a win in his last outing. As for Evans, he is also a CWFC veteran and he is coming off of a loss in his last fight for the promotion. This could be a fight that realistically goes either way, which is why the betting odds were so close. Overall, it should be a fun fight to watch and this card should be solid overall.
