Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 76 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 76 is a five-round middleweight bout between Sean Strickland and Abus Magomedov. Although he is often criticized by the fans, Strickland has proven he’s one of the top 10 middleweights in the UFC. He is coming off o a big win over Nassourdine Imavov in his last fight, and he looks to ride that momentum into this contest against Magomedov. The unranked veteran only has one UFC fight under his belt, which was a quick knockout win over Dustin Stoltzfus. Although it was a flashy victory, it came over an overmatched opponent, so it’s hard to say how good Magomedov really is. As such, the oddsmakers opened ups Strickland as the betting favorite to get the win in this matchup.
- Also on the card is a lightweight bout between Damir Ismagulov and Grant Dawson. Ismagulov is coming off of a decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan in his last fight, which snapped his unbeaten UFC win streak. As for Dawson, he is unbeaten over his eight UFC appearances. Both fighters are excellent grapplers, which could lead to a striking-based bout. Ismagulov opened as the favorite, but Dawson has a chance here.
