Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2023: Week 6:
- Headlining this PFL card is a lightweight tournament bout between Olivier Aubin-Mercier, who won the tourney last season, and Anthony Romero, who is relatively new to the promotion. OAM has won all seven of his fights in PFL since joining the promotion back in 2021. In his most recent fight earlier this season, he defeated another fellow former UFC fighter, Shane Burgos, by decision. He now takes on Romero in what is an all-Canadian matchup. Romero has won his last three fights in a row, which includes a decision win in his PFL debut earlier this year. He now gets into the tournament on short notice to take on OAM. That being said, on paper this is a very difficult fight for Romero to win, and OAM opened up as the clear favorite.
- Also on the card is a welterweight bout between Sadibou Sy and Shane Mitchell. Sy has won his last five fights in a row and he is looking to win another million dollars. As for Mitchell, he lost his PFL debut earlier this year. On paper, this looks like another mismatch. Sy is a very good fighter and has proven that’s the case, while Mitchell is still very unproven here.
