Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Jacksonville Opening Odds:
- Headlining UFC Jacksonville is a five-round featherweight bout between top contenders Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria. Emmett is coming off of a submission loss to Yair Rodriguez which snapped a five-fight winning streak for the long-time featherweight contender. As for Topuria, he is unbeaten with a 13-0 record in MMA, and he’s 5-0 in the UFC with four stoppage wins. Both fighters are at the top of the division, but Topuria has far more upside as a fighter. He has been looking downright phenomenal during his entire UFC run, and there is no reason to doubt him now. As such, Topuria opened up as the clear favorite to get the win in this fight.
- Also on the card is a women’s flyweight bout between Maycee Barber and Amanda Ribas. Barber has won her last four fights in a row, including a decision win over Andrea Lee in her last outing. Ribas, meanwhile, is coming off of a decision win over Viviane Araujo. Both women are well-matched here and this should be a good fight, not to mention an important one at 125lbs. Ribas opened up as the favorite here, but you can’t count out Barber from winning.
