Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 297:
- Headlining Bellator 297 is the next title defense for light heavyweight champ Vadim Nemkov, who takes on Yoel Romero. Nemkov won the 205lbs Grand Prix when he beat Corey Anderson in the finals to extend his win streak. He is one of the best fighters in the world in his weight class, and he could potentially hold his belt for a long time. Romero is going to try and change that, but at age 46, it’s hard to see him having any sort of success here even though he is coming off of a couple of nice wins. Nemkov is the clear favorite, then, to win this fight.
- Also on the card is a bantamweight title bout between the champion Sergio Pettis and the former 145lbs and 155lbs champion Patricio Pitbull, who will be looking to make history as the first three-division champion in Bellator and major MMA history. Pitbull opened up as the betting favorite for this fight, but you can’t count out Pettis, who has looked exceptional overall in Bellator. Pitbull will likely win the fight, but Pettis has a better chance than the odds say.
