Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Road To UFC: Season 2, Episode 1
- At featherweight, Keisuke Sasu fights Sang Won Kim. Sasu competed in the last season of Road to UFC but he lost a split decision to Zha Yi (who also fights on this card). Since then, he has won two straight fights to get another shot on the show. He’s actually won nine of his last 10 fights so he has a lot of momentum riding into this bout. As for Kim, he is actually coming off of a loss in his last fight, but he won three straight fights before that. Still, it’s a bit surprising to see a fighter coming off of a loss getting a chance on the show. Sasu has been on a roll as of late so he should be favored here, and the oddsmakers have him pegged as a big favorite.
- Also on the card is a flyweight bout between Mark Climaco and Jung Hyun Lee. Climaco is coming over from LFA, where he won his last two fights. As for Lee, he is undefeated in his MMA career since making his pro debut in 2020. There is a reason he is called “The Phenom,” after all. Still, Climaco has fought the better competition, and coming over from LFA, this is arguably a step down for him, so he deserves to be the big favorite to get the victory.
