Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Charlotte Opening Odds:
- This should be an awesome ABC card as heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida headline it. These two men rarely see the judges’ scorecards, so look for both men to seek and find that first-round finish. Rozenstruik is coming off of a big KO win over Chris Daukaus in his last fight that snapped a two-fight losing skid. Almeida, meanwhile, is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC so far. Basically, this fight is going to determine whether or not Almeida is a top-10 heavyweight. It seems like bettors like him here, as he opened up as a big favorite and has since been bet up to an even bigger number. In short, Almeida is the preferred side here.
- Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout between Johnny Walker and Anthony Smith. Both guys are ranked in the top 10 at 205lbs, so this is an important fight in the weight class. Walker is coming off two straight wins, while Smith hasn’t fought since he lost via TKO to Magomed Ankalaev last summer. Given the way both fighters performed in their last couple of fights, it’s no surprise to see Walker open up as the betting favorite here. But don’t count out Smith.
