Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 288 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 288 sees UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling put his belt on the line against former champ Henry Cejudo. Sterling has looked amazing in recent years, as he’s won his last eight straight fights. That includes notable wins over the likes of former champions such as Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw. Now, he will be taking on another former champion in the form of Cejudo, who is returning to the Octagon after three years away from the sport. Before he retired, Cejudo was the champion and the best fighter in his weight class. But we will have to find out how he looks after so much time away from the cage. The opening odds were close for this fight, with a slight lean toward the current champion Sterling.
- In the co-main event, Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns meet for five rounds or less. This fight was booked on short notice after the card needed another big fight, and it doesn’t get any bigger than this one. Burns opened up as the betting favorite for this bout, but Muhammad quickly earned the respect of sports bettors as early come came in his direction.
