Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 72 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 72 is a five-round bantamweight bout between Ricky Simon and Song Yadong. These two young bantamweights are both ranked in the top 10 and the winner of this match will take a big step forward to getting a title shot in a stacked division. Simon has been on a roll lately, winning his last five fights in a row and finishing his last couple of opponents. He has really seemed to have leveled up as of late and is finally living up to his potential. As for Yadong, he is coming off of a TKO doctor stoppage loss to Cory Sandhagen, but he was very competitive up until a cut stopped the fight. Overall, this should be an excellent bantamweight bout. The oddsmakers opened up the fight with Simon as a slight favorite, but Song is a great fighter in his own right and this should close at near-even odds.
- Also on the card is a middleweight bout between Caio Borralho and Michal Oleksiejczuk. Borralho has won all three of his UFC fights, while Oleksiejczuk is coming off two straight KO wins. Still, Borralho has superior grappling, which is why he opened as the betting favorite.
