Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 287 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 287 is a rematch between UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira and former champ Israel Adesanya. These two met last November, with Pereira pulling off the upset win when he knocked Adesanya out in the fifth round. About six months later and they meet again, with Adesanya still billed as the favorite to win the belt. That may come as a surprise to some given that he was finished in the first fight, but when you look closer at that first matchup, it was clear that Adesanya was winning the minutes up until the finish. At the end of the day, though, he lost the fight, and Pereira is the champ. This rematch should be a very intriguing battle to watch play out, with Adesanya once again coming in as the favorite.
- The co-main event sees Gilbert Burns take on Jorge Masvidal. The betting odds for this fight feature Burns as a significant betting favorite, with Masvidal a huge underdog. That’s because Burns has been in very solid form as of late, with Masvidal losing his last three fights. Burns should have the edge in this fight, which is why he is a big favorite to get the victory here.
