Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC San Antonio Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC San Antonio is a five-round bantamweight bout between Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen. Vera has been one of the hottest fighters in the division as he possesses a four-fight win streak at the moment, including a career-best head kick KO over former champion Dominick Cruz in his last fight. As for Sandhagen, he is coming off of a TKO win over Song Yadong in his last fight to snap a two-fight losing skid. This is a great fight as these are two of the best fighters in the world classes who are both in their prime at age 30. Sandhagen is the betting favorite, but Vera has won several fights as the underdog before.
- Also on the card is a women’s bantamweight bout between Holly Holm and Yana Santos. Holm hasn’t fought since a split decision loss to Ketlen Vieira last year, while Santos hasn’t fought since getting finished by Irene Aldana in 2021. Santos is a solid fighter in the weight class, but Holm is a former champion and still in good form at age 41. It should come as no surprise to anyone that Holm is favored given she is usually the betting favorite in her fights.
