Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 293:
- The main event of Bellator 293 is a heavyweight bout between Marcelo Golm and Daniel James. Golm has won four straight fights, including two in a row under the Bellator banner. In his last fight, Golm battled back to finish Davion Franklin late in the third round. As for James, he has won four straight fights, including a TKO win over Tyrell Fortune in his last fight. Both fighters are riding momentum right now, but Golm is a lot younger, and he’s the favorite here.
- The co-main event is a women’s featherweight bout between Cat Zingano and Leah McCourt. Zingano is a perfect 3-0 so far in Bellator, including a decision win over Pam Sorenson in her last fight. As for McCourt, she’s 6-1 overall in Bellator and she won her last fight over Dayana Silva, although it was a controversial decision. Zingano deserves to be favored here given her body of work, but McCourt has performed well overall in Bellator. Zingano is also 40 years old, and while she keeps herself in tremendous physical condition, McCourt is a live dog here.
