Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 286 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 286 is the trilogy bout between welterweight champ Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. These two met last summer at UFC 278 and Edwards shocked the world with an all-time great comeback in the fifth round via head kick. Now, they meet for the third time after Usman previously beat Edwards by decision in 2015. In the rematch, Usman was a minute away from defending his belt before Edwards caught him with the head kick KO. Now, Usman will likely be looking to finish the job in the trilogy. Despite being the champion, Edwards is a hefty underdog, given most people thought the finish was flukey. That being said, he is the champion and you shouldn’t automatically assume he will lose this time around.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a fun lightweight bout between Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev. Gaethje is coming off a submission loss to former champ Charles Oliveira, while Fiziev has won his last six fights in a row. Gaethje is a legend of the sport for his epic wars, but all that damage has been adding up. Fiziev is fresher, and he’s the favorite to win this fight.
