Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 149:
- Cage Warriors returns to the United States with another fun card set for San Diego. On the card is a featherweight bout between Roberto Hernandez and John de Jesus. Hernandez lost his MMA debut in 2017 but since then he has won all five of his fights, including three wins under the CWFC banner. He’s only 29 years old and is rapidly improving, so there is a chance that he can pick up some more wins and generate some UFC interest. As for de Jesus, he has been a pro dating back to 2012 and he has fought numerous times for LFA and for Bellator. In his last fight, he picked up a win in CWFC. Although de Jesus has more experience against better competition, Hernandez has more momentum and is the betting favorite for this fight.
- Also on the card is a bantamweight bout between UFC veteran Wilson Reis and Bellator veteran Johnny Campbell. Reis has won his last two fights in a row in CWFC and he has been looking good lately despite being 38 years old. As for Campbell, he took this fight on short notice and he is coming off of a win in Cage Titans in his last fight. Although Campbell has a lot of experience, Reis has been the better fighter throughout the course of his MMA career.
