Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 69 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 69 is a five-round women’s flyweight bout between Jessica Andrade and Erin Blanchfield. Originally this was supposed to be Taila Santos against Blanchfield, but Andrade stepped up on short notice after Santos pulled out due to personal reasons. Andrade is coming off three straight wins and she has been looking incredible inside the Octagon as of late. As for Blanchfield, she is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC and she looks to be one of the best prospects in the weight class. But Andrade is so dangerous and so experienced that it’s hard to go against her in this spot, and that’s why she is favored here.
- In the co-main event, Zac Pauga takes on Jordan Wright at light heavyweight. Pauga is returning to the Octagon at 205lbs after losing in the TUF Finale last year to Mohammed Usman in the heavyweight division. He was favored to win that fight but ended up getting knocked out. As for Wright, he is moving back up to 205lbs after going 1-4 as a middleweight. He’s a fighter with a lot of finishing power, but his durability is a concern. Regardless of who gets their hand raised in this fight, it looks pretty likely that someone is getting knocked out.
