Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 290:
- The main event of Bellator 290 sees Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader put his title on the line against the legend Fedor Emelianenko in a rematch. These two previously met back in 2019, with Bader winning the fight by first-round knockout. Since then, Bader has defended his heavyweight title several times, while also losing his light heavyweight title during that timeframe. As for Emelianenko, he is now 46 years old and this will be his final MMA fight. He is coming off of two straight knockout wins, but Bader is a different beast than an aging Rampage Jackson and Tim Johnson. Emelianenko has a puncher’s chance, but overall Bader is the younger, more complete fighter and he should be able to defeat Emelianenko again.
- In the co-main event, Bellator middleweight champion Johnny Eblen takes on Anatoly Tokov. Eblen is coming off a huge win over Gegard Mousasi in his last fight which saw him capture the title. As for Tokov, he has won his last seven fights in a row. On paper, this should be a tremendous fight between two middleweights in their prime. You have to favor Eblen as the champion here, but don’t count out Tokov from pulling off the upset in this fight either.
