Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 67 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 67 is a middleweight bout between top-15-ranked fighters Nassourdine Imavov and Sean Strickland, who took this fight on short notice, filling in for the injured Kelvin Gastelum. Imavov has won four of his five fights in the UFC and he is quickly making a rise up the middleweight rankings. Strickland, on the other hand, has lost his last two fights, but they were against top fighters in the champion Alex Pereira and Jared Cannonier. Imavov is very good, but Strickland is more proven in the UFC. It’s interesting to note that although Imavov opened as the betting favorite, the line flipped to Strickland being favored.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a featherweight bout between Dan Ige and Damon Jackson. Ige is ranked in the top-15 at the moment but he has lost his last three fights in a row and four of his last five. As for Jackson, he has been on the rise lately with four straight wins and five wins in his last six fights. This should also be a very fun fight between two solid fighters. Jackson opened up as the favorite, likely due to being on a win streak, but Ige is a very solid fighter.
