Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 282 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 282 is a vacant light heavyweight title bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz. The original main event was supposed to be Jiri Prochazka vs. Glover Teixeira, but after Prochazka suffered a career-threatening shoulder injury, he vacated his belt, and the UFC decided to go with this new title fight instead. Ankalaev is riding a nine-fight win streak in the UFC since losing his debut at the last second to Paul Craig. Since then, he has been nothing but a stud inside the cage. As for Blachowicz, the former champ has won six of his last seven fights overall. Blachowicz is a fantastic fighter, but Ankalaev has long been considered to be a future UFC champion, and he is the betting favorite to win this title fight.
- As for the co-main event, Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon meet at lightweight. Pimblett is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC with all three of his wins coming by way of stoppage. Gordon, on the other hand, has won four of his last five fights. Gordon is the best opponent Pimblett has had in the UFC, and the oddsmakers opened him as the favorite, though the line has since flipped.
