Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Orlando Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Orlando is a five-rounder between welterweights Stephen Thompson and Kevin Holland. Thompson has lost his last two fights but they came against grapplers in Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. He has been calling for a striker and he now gets to fight Holland, who is not known for his wrestling but who does have some lethal submissions. Thompson’s striking acumen should give him an edge on the feet, but Holland can hang in there and also mix in his grappling, so it’s a tricky fight to hence, hence the Pick ’em odds.
- The co-main event of UFC Orlando sees Rafael dos Anjos move back up to 170lbs when he takes on Bryan Barberena. Dos Anjos is coming off a brutal knockout loss against Rafael Fiziev at 155lbs and he has decided to make the move back up to welterweight, where he has competed before in the past with some success. Barberena, meanwhile, is coming off of a knockout win over Robbie Lawler and he has won three straight overall. dos Anjos is the deserved favorite in this fight, you can’t count out Barberena, who is as tough as they come.
