Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 65 Opening Odds:
- The headliner of UFC Vegas 65 is a five-round heavyweight bout between Serghei Spivac and Derrick Lewis. Spivac is coming off two straight wins and overall he has won five of his last six fights. Lewis, meanwhile, has lost his last two fights in a row and three of his last four overall. This is an intriguing fight because Lewis has been one of the best heavyweights for years, but Spivac is part of the new blood emerging in the weight class. The line opened as Pick ’em.
- Also on the card is a fun welterweight bout between Andrei Fialho and Muslim Salikhov. This is actually Fialho’s fifth UFC fight so far this year. He’s already 2-2, with two knockout wins, but he’s coming off of a knockout loss in his last fight. Salikhov is also coming off a knockout loss in his last fight, a loss that snapped a five-fight winning streak. Pick your poison with this fight. Both men have a lot of power, but as we’ve seen, neither has the best durability at 170lbs. Salikhov opened as the betting favorite here, but Fialho for sure has a puncher’s chance.
