Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 63 Opening Odds:
- The headliner of UFC Vegas 63 is a five-round featherweight bout between Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen. Kattar is coming off of a close split decision loss to Josh Emmett, but many thought he won that fight. Prior to that, Kattar had pulled off an upset win over Giga Chikadze to bounce back following a brutal loss to Max Holloway. He has shown that he still has plenty left in the tank and he should be only a few wins away from a potential title shot. As for Allen, he’s on a long win streak heading into this bout. While he’s looked great overall, he hasn’t been fighting elite opponents such as Kattar. This is a good test for both guys right now, but you have to lean towards Kattar to get the win just based on his overall level of experience.
- The co-main event is a fun welterweight bout between two veterans in Tim Means and Max Griffin. Means is coming off of a submission win to Kevin Holland, which snapped a three-fight winning streak, while Griffin recently saw his own win streak end with a split decision loss to Neil Magny. This is another close fight and that’s reflected in the opening odds for it.
