Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 280 Opening Odds:
- UFC 280 is the most stacked card of the year and it should be incredible to watch. In the main event, the vacant UFC lightweight title is on the line between former champion Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev. Oliveira has won 11 straight fights and he would still be the champ right now had he not missed weight against Justin Gaethje in his last bout. As for Makhachev, he is on a 10-fight win streak and is one of the best lightweights in the sport. Although Makhachev is a great fighter, it’s still surprising to see him favored here over Oliveira given the Brazilian hasn’t lost in several years now despite fighting against elite competition.
- In the co-main event, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling takes on TJ Dillashaw. Sterling has won seven straight fights, including back-to-back wins over former champion Petr Yan. As for Dillashaw, he returned from a two-year USADA suspension last year to defeat Cory Sandhgen in a No. 1 contender’s fight. This fight between Sterling and Dillashaw should be incredible to watch, with the champion opening up as a small betting favorite for this fight.
- On top of the two title fights, there are 12 other great fights slated for this stacked PPV event.
