Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 60 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 60 is a five-round bantamweight bout between top contenders Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong. Sandhagen is coming off of two straight losses, but they were against Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw, and he was very competitive in both fights. Prior to those losses, Sandhagen had knocked out Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes in devastating victories. As for Song, he has quietly gone 8-1-1 in the UFC overall, including his current three-fight win streak. Both men are young, talented fighters with great presents and futures in the sport. Sandhagen is the rightful favorite, but it’s hard to completely discount Song in this spot.
- Also on the card is a fantastic middleweight bout between Chidi Njokuani and Gregory Rodrigues. Njokuani is riding a four-fight win streak, including back-to-back KO wins in the UFC. He has looked exceptional and this is a big fight for him against an excellent opponent. Rodrigues is 3-1 overall in the UFC and he is coming off of a KO win over Julian Marquez. This appears to be a competitive fight, one that is unlikely to make it to the scorecards.
