Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 142:
- The main event of LFA 142 is a women’s strawweight bout between Jaqueline Amorim and Ashley Nichols for the LFA 115lbs title that Amorim currently owns. Amorim is just 27 years old and she is already 5-0 as a pro with all five of her wins coming by first-round stoppage in under less than two minutes each time. She appears to have an incredible ground game and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her eventually make it to the UFC, especially if she wins the LFA title. As for Nichols, she is coming off of a win over Hilarie Rose in her last fight for LFA. That was her first fight in four years and she got her hand raised. However, with her being 36 and having had several previous losses, it’s no surprise at all to see Amorim favored to win this matchup, especially since she is the defending champion entering this bout.
- Also on the card is a heavyweight bout between Thomas Petersen and Kory Moegenburg. Petersen was knocked out by Waldo Cortes-Acosta in his last fight but he had won all of his previous pro MMA fights by stoppage. As for Moegenburg, he is just 2-3 in his MMA career with all three of his losses coming by way of knockout. As such, Petersen opened up as a heavy favorite for this fight.
