Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 285:
- Bellator 285 is headlined by lightweights Benson Henderson and Peter Queally in a five-round bout. Henderson is coming off of a split decision win over Islam Mamedov which snapped a three-fight losing skid for the former UFC lightweight champion. At age 38, Henderson has seen better days, but he still has a ton of experience and showed in his last fight that he still has what it takes to get his hand raised. As for Queally, he lost to Patricky Pitbull in his last fight but had beaten Pitbull the fight before that to show that he’s one of the best lightweights in Bellator. Henderson is favored here due to his name and his championship experience, but Queally is a gamer and shouldn’t be completely counted out of winning this main event.
- In the co-main event, we have middleweights Yoel Romero and Melvin Manhoef. Romero knocked out Alex Polizzi at the bell in his last fight to snap a four-fight losing skid for the former UFC title challenger. At age 45, though, he has seen better days. On the other hand, we have Manhoef, who is coming off of a knockout loss to Corey Anderson. At age 46, he’s also seen his better days. Pick your poison in this one, but Romero is favored as the superior grappler.
