Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Paris Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Paris features France’s very own Ciryl Gane taking on Tai Tuivasa in an important heavyweight battle. Gane lost a decision to UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou earlier this year which was the first loss of his MMA career. Despite that defeat, Gane remains one of the best heavyweight fighters in the sport. In this fight, he takes on Tuivasa, who has been on a roll himself. Tuivasa enters this fight off of a five-fight win streak as he is looking to jump into the elite of the UFC heavyweight division. That being said, Gan is a tough fight for anyone. He enters this bout as a big favorite, and rightfully so given his overall more complete MMA game. However, Tuivasa of course has a puncher’s chance to beat him.
- As for the co-main event, it’s two of the best middleweights in the sport as Robert Whittaker takes on Marvin Vettori. Whittaker is coming off of a close decision loss to the champ Israel Adesanya that snapped a three-fight win streak for him. As for Vettori, he beat Paulo Costa in his last fight, and overall he has won six of his last seven overall. Vettori certainly has a chance to win this fight, but the bookies opened up Whittaker as the betting favorite here.
