Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 51:
- Headlining DWCS 51 is a heavyweight bout between Eduardo Neves and Michael Parkin. Neves turned pro in 2019 and since then he has won all five of his professional MMA bouts by knockout. His last two fights took place in LFA where he showed he’s ready for the next level of competition with two knockouts for the 22-year-old Brazilian. His opponent Parkin also turned pro in 2019 and he, too, also has won all five of his pro fights by knockouts. This looks like a fight that could go either way given they have identical records and methods of victory. However, the fact Neves has been fighting for LFA gives him a slight edge in this matchup.
- Also on the card is a welterweight fight between Amiran Gogoladze and Darrius Flowers. Gogoladze has won his last three fights by knockout and overall he has won nine of his last 10 fights, with eight of those wins coming by stoppage. As for Flowers, he has won his last three fights but he has several key losses to former UFC fighters on his record which don’t look great in hindsight. The bookies pegged Gogoladze as a moderate favorite for this fight and it makes sense given that he has been on a roll as of late and has fewer losses on his record.
